Before beginning their first semester, students are directed to choose a Pathway that matches their interests and goals even if they are not ready to choose a major. This selection allows them to join a community of learners with peers who have similar interests, while also allowing intentional collaboration and interaction among Pathways to encourage cross-disciplinary relationships. The student will be assigned a Guilford Guide based on their choice of Pathway. This choice is in no way binding; students can switch to another Pathway at any time.
Pathway Guides are specialists in each of the majors in that Pathway, but every Guide is knowledgeable about every major and can assist any student. If a student switches Pathways, they will remain with their assigned Guide through the semester (and maybe longer)
